Color restoration across Greenwich, CT.
After a calibrated wash to lift surface oxidation, the master artisan selectively re-tints with light-fast dyes that match the rug's original palette — not a flood-dye that flattens the piece. The Cohen family has performed color restoration for Greenwich estates for more than a decade. Sun-faded antique Persians, dye-bleed corrections, water-damaged Aubussons. Complimentary pickup throughout Greenwich, Cos Cob, Old Greenwich, Riverside, and the backcountry.
Bringing Greenwich palettes back to depth.
Two patterns drive most Greenwich color-restoration cases. The first is selective sun-fade — the south-facing rooms in estate houses on Round Hill and Belle Haven concentrate sunlight on one side of an antique Persian, and the protected sections give the master artisan a clear reference for re-tinting. The second is wet-spill dye-bleed — a household spill that pulls red or blue into a cream field, common on antique Aubussons under formal dining tables.
Both are recoverable by hand. After a calibrated wash to lift surface oxidation — which often resolves what reads as fade — the master artisan matches yarn from the master dye-stock and selectively re-tints only the faded knots. The original palette is preserved; only the depth is restored. We never flood-dye. We never substitute commercial yarn. The rug returns to your Greenwich home reading the way it should.

How we restore your rug's color, by hand.
Wash first, dye-match second, selective re-tinting last — the original palette preserved, the depth restored.
Calibrated wash.
After pickup from your Greenwich address, the rug receives a calibrated wash to lift surface oxidation, dust, and the dull film that often reads as fading. Many rugs need nothing more — only after the wash does the master artisan judge whether re-tinting is necessary.
Master dye-stock matching.
Where re-tinting is needed, the master artisan matches yarn to the rug's original palette from our master dye-stock — wool dyed in small batches to vegetable-dyed earth tones, Caucasian reds, Aubusson pastels, and silk-rug tones. No commercial dye floods, no flat re-color of the whole field.
Selective hand re-tinting.
The master artisan selectively re-tints faded knots and bleed-affected areas with light-fast dyes applied by hand. The original palette is preserved; only the depth is restored. The rug is then re-rinsed, dried flat, and returned to your Greenwich home.
