Introduction

Horizon Rug Cleaning & Restoration (“Horizon,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a family-owned atelier hand-washing and restoring antique oriental, Persian, and silk rugs from ateliers across the Northeast. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with our website, our consultation and pickup forms, our email correspondence, and visits to our atelier.

We respect the trust our clients place in us — the same trust they place in us when they hand over a rug that has belonged to their family for generations. This policy is written to be read, not to be hidden behind. If anything here is unclear, please contact our atelier at the address below.

02

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide to us directly when you fill out our consultation, pickup, or contact forms, send us an email, or speak with us by phone or at the atelier. This typically includes your name, telephone number, email address, postal address or ZIP code, the type and condition of the rug you would like us to look at, and any photographs you choose to send us.

We also collect limited information automatically when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, the pages you view, and the time and duration of your visit. We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website and to understand how it is used.

We do not knowingly collect information from children. Our services are intended for adults responsible for the rugs in their homes or for trade clients placing pieces on behalf of others.

03

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to your consultation requests, coordinate complimentary pickup and delivery of your rug, communicate with you about the work in progress, send appointment confirmations and finished-work notifications, prepare invoices and receipts, and provide occasional service updates from the atelier.

We may also use your information internally to improve our service, train our team, audit our process, prepare anonymized condition reports for our own records, and comply with applicable law.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making and we do not engage in profiling.

04

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not trade it.

We share information only with the members of our atelier team servicing your rug, with vendors who help us operate the business (for example: our email and form-submission provider, our payment processor, and the insurance carrier who insures pieces in our care), and where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

Service providers are bound by contract to use your information only for the purposes for which we engage them and to protect it consistent with this policy.

05

Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, secure form submissions, and measure how the website is used. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic patterns and to improve content. Google Analytics processes IP addresses and other identifiers as a third-party processor; for details see Google’s policies.

You may refuse cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect parts of the website that rely on cookies to function.

06

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as is necessary to provide the services you have requested, to comply with our legal and accounting obligations, and to resolve any disputes. Service records related to rugs in our care are typically retained for [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — standard practice is seven (7) years] from the date of the last service, consistent with insurance and recordkeeping practice in our industry.

When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, it is deleted or anonymized.

07

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion of information that is no longer necessary, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw any consent you have previously given.

Residents of California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA), residents of New York under the SHIELD Act, and residents of states or countries with comparable privacy laws have additional rights, which include the right to know what information is collected and to whom it is disclosed, the right to opt out of “sales” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

[PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — jurisdiction-specific rights language (CCPA categories, GDPR Article 13/14 disclosures if applicable, sensitive personal information handling), and the precise mechanism for verifiable consumer requests.]

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section below. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

08

Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we hold from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us over the internet.

Photographs of your rug and any details you provide are treated as confidential and accessible only to the members of our atelier team servicing your piece.

09

International Transfers

Our atelier and our service providers are located primarily in the United States. If you are accessing our website from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — specific cross-border transfer mechanisms (SCCs, adequacy decisions) if EU/UK/Swiss data is collected.]
