01

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the relationship between Horizon Rug Cleaning & Restoration (“Horizon,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) and any individual or entity (“you,” “Client”) who engages us to clean, restore, or otherwise care for a rug, or who uses the Horizon website at horizonrugcleaningnj.com. By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or our services.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.

02

Services Description

Horizon is a family-owned atelier providing hand-wash cleaning, restoration, and conservation services for antique oriental, Persian, silk, and fine wool rugs. Our services include — without limitation — hand-washing of contemporary and antique rugs, the antique wash, oriental rug restoration (reweaving, foundation repair, fringe binding, selvedge restoration), color restoration, moth treatment and damage repair, oriental silk rug cleaning, and complimentary pickup and delivery within our service area.

All work is performed in our atelier by our master artisans and team. No work is subcontracted to third-party wash plants.

We may decline to perform any service if, in our professional judgment, doing so would be likely to damage the rug, would be ethically inappropriate, or would otherwise be inadvisable. We will explain our reasoning in plain language.

03

Acceptance of Services

A service is engaged in three steps. First, you contact us by phone, by web form, or by email to describe your rug and your needs. Second, we provide a written quote following inspection (either by photograph or in person at pickup or the atelier). Third, you accept the quote in writing — by signed receipt, by email confirmation, or by countersignature on our pickup form — at which point we begin work.

Until a quote has been accepted, no services have been engaged and no obligations arise. The inspection itself is complimentary; you are under no obligation to proceed.

04

Pricing & Payment

Pricing is quote-based and depends on the size, fiber, age, and condition of the rug, as well as on the scope of restoration (if any). Quotes are honest and transparent — the price you see is the price you pay. The only adjustment we may make is if, during the work, we recommend an expansion of scope (for example: a foundation repair that surfaces only after a wash). We will quote any expansion in writing and proceed only with your written approval.

Payment is due upon completion of services, before delivery of the rug to your home. We accept all major credit cards, ACH transfer, and check. For larger restoration projects, we may take a deposit of up to fifty percent (50%) at the start of work, with the balance due upon completion. [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — preferred deposit percentage, late-fee policy, finance-charge rate on past-due balances, and the storage-fee structure for finished pieces awaiting client pickup.]

All prices are exclusive of any applicable sales or use tax, which will be added where required by law.

05

Pickup, Insurance & Liability

Every rug in our care is fully insured from the moment we take possession at pickup, throughout the time it resides at the atelier, during any restoration work, and until the moment it is delivered back to your home. Our team is bonded, our wash floor is supervised, and we take personal responsibility for every piece we accept.

Insurance is held against the declared value of the rug as stated on the pickup receipt. We strongly encourage you to declare a value supported by a recent professional appraisal; if no value is declared, our liability is limited to [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — specific cap, e.g., the lesser of the cleaning charge or a fixed dollar amount per square foot consistent with industry practice and our carrier’s requirements].

We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions of the rug — wear, dye fragility, prior repairs, foundation weakness, or moth damage not visible at the time of inspection — that may manifest during the wash. Where we identify such a condition in advance, we will note it on the inspection report and discuss any adapted approach with you before proceeding.

[PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — full limitation-of-liability clause, including caps, exclusions for consequential and incidental damages, and any required carve-outs under applicable law.]

06

Cancellation & Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule a pickup at no charge with at least twenty-four (24) hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a service-call fee equal to our reasonable cost of dispatched team and vehicle.

If you wish to cancel a service after the rug is in our care but before any wash or restoration work has begun, you may do so at no charge other than the cost of return delivery. Once work has commenced, charges are calculated on a pro-rata basis to reflect the work completed up to the point of cancellation.

We reserve the right to reschedule a pickup or delivery due to weather, vehicle issues, or other circumstances reasonably beyond our control, with reasonable notice to you.

07

Client Responsibilities

You represent that you are the owner of the rug entrusted to us, or that you are authorized by the owner to engage our services on the owner’s behalf. You are responsible for providing accurate information about the rug at the time of inspection, including any known prior repairs, exposure to flood or fire, or other history that may affect the wash or restoration plan.

If you have a co-op or condo building with specific certificate-of-insurance, freight-elevator, or hand-off requirements, please share these with us before pickup so that we can comply.

08

Intellectual Property

All content on the Horizon website — including but not limited to text, photography, illustrations, graphics, layouts, logos, brand marks, and the “Horizon Rug Cleaning & Restoration” name — is the property of Horizon or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, or otherwise exploit any content on the website without our prior written consent, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by applicable law (including the personal, non-commercial fair-use exceptions in copyright law).

Photographs of rugs we have washed or restored are taken with the understanding that we may use them for our own portfolio and promotional purposes in anonymized form. If you would prefer that we not use photographs of your rug, please tell us in writing at the time of pickup and we will document that preference.

09

Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — confirm New York vs. the state of the engaging atelier (Westchester / Greenwich / Short Hills / Ithaca), and confirm the choice-of-venue provision below.]

10

Dispute Resolution

We hope you will never need this section. If a dispute does arise, our preference is always to resolve it directly, in conversation, with our family.

If a dispute cannot be resolved by direct discussion, the parties agree to first attempt mediation in good faith before commencing any formal proceedings.

[PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — choose between (a) binding arbitration administered by AAA or JAMS in a specified venue with class-action waiver, and (b) court proceedings in a specified county. Add jury-trial waiver if desired, and address consumer-protection carve-outs under applicable state law.]

11

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Horizon, its owners, employees, and agents from and against any third-party claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misrepresentation of ownership of a rug entrusted to us, or your violation of applicable law. [PLACEHOLDER:client-legal-review — scope of indemnification, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and any reciprocal indemnity from Horizon to the extent applicable.]

12

Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as our practices evolve, as the law changes, or as we add new services. When we make a change, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Changes are effective when posted. Continued use of our website or services after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
