Hand-washed antique oriental, Persian, and silk rugs — pickup across SoHo.
For more than a decade, the Cohen family has cared for the rugs of SoHo — antique oriental, Persian, silk, fine wool. We pick up across Broadway, West Broadway, Greene Street, Mercer Street, Prince, Spring, Wooster, and the cast-iron loft buildings that define the SoHo Cast-Iron Historic District, hand-wash by appointment in our Westchester atelier, and return every rug in better condition than the day it left.
What rugs we collect from SoHo.
Broadway. West Broadway. Greene Street. Mercer. The cast-iron stock from the 1860s and 70s, converted to lofts in the seventies and never quite re-converted since.
SoHo rugs follow the floor plates — wide, open, scaled for the loft. The collections we collect here lean modern designer-curated and contemporary silk, often oversized to anchor a single great room. Antique Persians and antique oriental silks appear in the older-tenant lofts, especially north of Houston and along Mercer. The mix is broader than Tribeca — more turnover, more design rotation — but the formats run similarly large.
Every rug we collect from a SoHo address is wrapped at the loft door, walked through the freight elevator (every cast-iron conversion has one), and driven directly to the Westchester atelier in our own truck. There it is inspected, dye-tested, and hand-washed on the dedicated atelier floor by our master artisans. Never machine-cleaned. Never sent off-site. The wide-open SoHo plates make the rug the architectural statement — they deserve a wash that respects that.
