Hand-washed antique oriental, Persian, and silk rugs — pickup across Lenox Hill.
For more than a decade, the Cohen family has cared for the rugs of Lenox Hill — antique oriental, Persian, silk, fine wool. We pick up across Park Avenue, Madison Avenue, and the 60s and 70s blocks — the pre-war co-ops between Lexington and Fifth that anchor the lower Upper East Side, hand-wash by appointment in our Westchester atelier, and return every rug in better condition than the day it left.
What rugs we collect from Lenox Hill.
Park Avenue in the sixties. Madison in the seventies. The pre-war co-ops between Lexington and Fifth that anchor the lower Upper East Side.
Lenox Hill is the densest concentration of antique Persian and antique Aubusson rugs in Manhattan. The pre-war co-ops here have held the same families for two and three generations, and the rugs reflect that — antique Tabriz, antique Kashan, antique Oushak, antique Aubusson, antique Chinese silk. Many of the pieces we collect on these blocks were commissioned or inherited before the war and have lived on the same floors ever since. Restoration work runs constantly: moth treatment, dye-bleed correction, reweaving on the foundation.
Every rug we pick up from a Lenox Hill address is wrapped at the door, walked out via the service elevator (mandatory in every Park and Madison co-op), and driven directly to the Westchester atelier in our own truck. There it is inspected, dye-tested, and hand-washed on the dedicated floor by our master artisans. Never machine-cleaned. Never sent off-site. The pieces in these rooms have outlived everyone who first lived with them — they deserve the wash that built that longevity.
