Hand-washed antique oriental, Persian, and silk rugs — pickup across Sag Harbor.

For more than a decade, the Cohen family has cared for the rugs of Sag Harbor — the historic whaling village, the Long Wharf district, the houses along Madison Street, and the North Haven peninsula. Antique Persians, antique Oushak, and the heirloom rugs that have lived in these historic houses for generations. Complimentary pickup, hand-washed in our atelier, returned in better condition than the day it left.

Care Across The Town

Rug care across Sag Harbor.

Sag Harbor is a different Hamptons town. Not an oceanfront colony but a whaling village — older than the United States, with the captains' houses on Madison Street and Howard Street still standing, still lived in, still holding the rugs they were furnished with a century or more ago. Across the bridge, North Haven holds the newer waterfront estates that look across to Shelter Island.

We see the historic-house heirlooms more often here than anywhere else on the South Fork: antique Persians in formal parlors, antique Oushak in dining rooms, the kind of pieces that need conservation-grade hand-washing rather than a standard clean. We also see the newer designer pieces in the North Haven houses. Each one is hand-washed in our Westchester atelier on the dedicated floor, by the same artisans, with the same care.

Common Conditions We Treat
  • Historic-house heirloom care
  • Off-season storage preparation
  • Moth treatment on antique wool
  • Water damage from waterfront homes
  • Foundation repair on antique pieces
  • Sun-fade and color restoration
From Sag Harbor To Our Atelier

How we care for your rug, by hand.

From your home to our atelier — and back to your door, in better condition than the day it left.

01

We come to Sag Harbor.

Arrange a complimentary pickup by phone or through the form. We schedule a time that fits the season, wrap your rug at your door — the village, Long Wharf, Madison Street, North Haven, or anywhere within the Sag Harbor town boundary — and bring it back to our Westchester atelier.

02

Hand-washed in our atelier.

Every rug — antique oriental, Persian, silk, fine wool — is inspected and dye-tested, then hand-washed by our master artisans on our dedicated atelier floor. Never by machine, never off-site.

03

Returned to your home.

We wrap, transport, and place your rug back where it belongs — in better condition than the day it left, fully insured the entire way.

A Note On The Season

Memorial Day to Labor Day — and the quiet months after.

Hamptons pickup volume runs in two distinct waves. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, summer-rental wear and entertaining-season spills come in faster than at any other point in the year — we ask for two to three weeks of notice on non-urgent work. Then from late September through November, closing-up clients book the year's hand-wash and storage-prep visit before the houses go dark.

Pickup from Sag Harbor routes through our Westchester HQ atelier — the round-trip is a full-day run, so we schedule early in the season and coordinate with house managers wherever possible. Off-season pickups (October through April) are easier and faster to book.

Common Questions

Questions, honestly answered.

What clients ask us before they hand over a rug — and how we answer.

How long does the rug stay at our Westchester atelier after a Sag Harbor pickup?
A standard hand-wash takes seven to fourteen days from the date we collect your rug. The conservation work more common on Sag Harbor heirlooms — reweaving, fringe binding, foundation repair, moth-damage stabilization — typically takes three to six weeks. Every rug gets the time it needs — we never rush a piece to meet a machine's schedule.
