Hand-washed antique oriental, Persian, and silk rugs — pickup across Backcountry Greenwich.
For more than a decade, the Cohen family has cared for the rugs of Backcountry Greenwich — Round Hill, Conyers Farm, the estates along Lake Avenue, the multi-acre properties north of the Merritt. Large heirloom Persians, antique Aubusson, antique Chinese silk, conservation-grade restoration. Complimentary pickup, hand-washed in our atelier, returned in better condition than the day it left.
Rug care across the Backcountry.
The Backcountry is estate Greenwich. Round Hill, Conyers Farm, Lake Avenue, North Street — multi-acre properties, long gated drives, stables and guest houses, principal residences that hold ten or twenty rugs across the floors. The collections often go back two and three generations, and the rugs are sized to rooms that read as halls.
We see the work that comes with that scale. Large heirloom Persians twelve and fourteen feet on a long edge. Antique Aubusson laid in formal salons. Antique Chinese silk in the library. Conservation-grade restoration on pieces that have been on the floor since the house was built. Each one is hand-washed in our Greenwich atelier on the dedicated floor, by the same artisans, with the same care, no matter the address.
- Large heirloom Persian — oversized formats
- Antique Aubusson — French flat-weave
- Antique Chinese silk
- Oriental restoration — reweave & foundation
- Sun-fade in tall-window estate rooms
- Multi-rug rotation across an estate
How we care for your rug, by hand.
From your estate to our atelier — and back to your door, in better condition than the day it left.
We come to the Backcountry.
Arrange a complimentary pickup by phone or through the form. We schedule a time that fits the estate — Round Hill, Conyers Farm, the lanes off Lake Avenue, the gated drives — coordinate with your house manager where required, wrap your rug at the door, and bring it back to our Greenwich atelier.
Hand-washed in our atelier.
Every rug — antique oriental, Persian, silk, fine wool — is inspected and dye-tested, then hand-washed by our master artisans on our dedicated atelier floor. Never by machine, never off-site.
Returned to your home.
We wrap, transport, and place your rug back where it belongs — in better condition than the day it left, fully insured the entire way.
